The implementation of the international project SARUD continues

From October 11 to October 13, on the basis of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, within the framework of the International Project ERASMUS + SARUD "Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development", trainings were held for teachers of Russian agrarian universities.

Stavropol State Agrarian University is the consultant in the project, and, under the terms of the partnership agreement, organized didactic and methodological seminars for academic partners. Representatives of six agrarian universities of Russia (Stavropol, Omsk, Michurin, Novosibirsk State Agrarian Universities, Yaroslavl and Buryat State Agricultural Academy), as well as the University of Hohenheim (Germany) and practitioners of the Stavropol region took part in the event.

The seminar was held on two main topics - "Organic Agriculture" and "Environmental Aspects of Sustainable Development of Rural Territories".

The first day of his work was devoted to the problems and prospects for the development of organic agriculture in our country.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculties of Agrobiology and Land Resources, Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Professor Alexander Nikolaevich Esaulko. Welcoming participants of the training, he outlined the importance and role of the development of organic agriculture not only for Stavropol, but for the whole of the Russian Federation, and also stressed the importance of compliance with environmental legislation for the production of environmentally safe products. Alexander Nikolaevich presented the results of scientific developments of scientists of the Stavropol State Agrarian University in the field of agricultural biologization, application of new forms of fertilizers and agroecological monitoring of the lands of the Stavropol region and of the cross-border regions.

The discussion was attended by Alexei Abaldov, Honored Worker of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Biological Agriculture; Alexander Pavlovich Portnov, Director of the Agrosfera Limited Liability Company; Tatyana Aleksandrovna Ekkert, Deputy General Director of Limited Liability Company of the Non-profit Partnership "Ecostroy".

Sergei Vladimirovich Shchukin, head of the Agronomy Department of the Yaroslavl State Agricultural Academy, presented his vision of the development of organic farming. The discussion was continued by the leading scientists of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources of the Stavropol State Agrarian University. In particular, Professor Georgy Dorozhko spoke about the experience of the Stavropol region in the biology of farming systems. Vera Ivanovna Faizova, doctor of agricultural sciences, shared her opinion on the influence of the traditional system of agricultural production on the properties and microbiological state of agrobiogeocenosis, and Anna Petrovna Shutko on the problems of plant protection in the system of organic farming. The head of the department of production and processing of food products from plant raw materials Elena Semenovna Romanenko outlined her view on the prospects for the development of biological winemaking. The first working day ended with a tour of laboratories of the Agrarian University.

The second day was dedicated to the environmental aspects of sustainable development of rural areas. The guests visited the greenhouse-greenhouse complex, the training and experimental farm of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, talked about the prospects for cooperation in the priority areas of the development of the agro-industrial complex, stressing the need for experience exchange within the framework of the SARUD project.

Then the sectional sessions continued, and the listeners received information from Professor Martin Dietrich of the Hohenheim University (Germany) on the role of ecology in the sustainable development of rural areas, as well as on Germany's experience in organic farming. Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Landscape Construction Julia Mandra held the training on identification of environmental aspects of agricultural enterprises in order to develop environmental policy and ensure sustainable development of agriculture. Participants discussed the prospects for implementing measures to develop an optimal waste management system in rural areas. At the end of the seminar, all participants were awarded certificates.

The goal of the SARUD project is the development of a professional master's program in sustainable agriculture and rural development, taking into account the needs of regions for professionals for government agencies, local administrations and private organizations. Stavropol State Agrarian University, being a partner in RUDECO in this program, provides consultative and methodological assistance in the formation of the master's program.
