We form a “green” image of the region

Students and teachers of the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture of SSAU took part in the III International Environmental Forum "Green Economy: Sustainable Development Strategies for Cities and Regions".

The Russian expert fund "Techeco" with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Program, the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Public Chamber of Stavropol Territory acted as the organizer of the eco-forum that was held from September 26 to September 28 in Stavropol Territory.

The purpose of the forum was to discuss key environmental issues in the modern world and new standards of environmental safety, as well as the establishment of international contacts in the implementation of environmental projects. Stavropol State Agrarian University actively participated in this event.

Within the first day of the forum, a plenary session was held, which examined the problems and prospects for the development of the green economy and the risks and benefits associated with it. Participants drew attention to environmental issues, highlighting priority areas: waste management reform, water conservation, forest protection, environmental education and the introduction of scientific results in production.

Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Landscape Construction Julia Mandra spoke about the role of Stavropol State Agrarian University in the formation of the "green" image of the region, and associate professor Svetlana Okrut participated in the discussion site "Ecology of the North Caucasus Federal District: Problems and Ways to Solve them." In addition, the Interregional Environmental Projects Competition "EcoYug - 2017" was held at the forum, where the future ecologists Valery Khalikov, Diana Klintzova, Susanna Zosimova, Marina Nakhusheva, Georgy Kolesnichenko, Pavel Karachaushev presented their research and development in the field of environmental protection. Students have gained experience in protecting the results of design and research activities aimed at improving the quality of the natural environment of Stavropol Territory.

As a result of the forum, a resolution was adopted that was addressed to the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, legislative and executive bodies of state power, as well as organizations and enterprises of the South of Russia.
