Houses for birds
The Faculty of Economics has organized a campaign for bird house building dedicated to International bird day within the III annual youth festival of ecology and sustainable development “VUZEcoFest-2017”.
This day dedicated to the bird return and has been celebrated since signing International Convention for the Protection of Birds in 1902. Its purpose is to promote conservation of the variety and number of wild birds as well as to focus public attention on bird protection.
Early April is traditional time for birdhouse building. Students of Stavropol SAU decided to keep this tradition. The campaign was initiated by Maria Sikorenko, Irina Vatolina, Tatiana Kiryanova third-year students of Economics of enterprises and organizations.
Among the participants of the campaign were students of the Faculties of Economics, Ecolofy and Landscape Architecture, Technological Management. They built bird houses according to the requirements and presented them to a jury.
Svetlana Okrut , PhD in Biological Sciences was a chair of the jury. All houses were estimated by 4 criteria and the winners were distributed in several nominations: «Following all the rules», «Junior», «Simply, but tasteful», «Cosy lodging», «For birds sake», «Cosy caffee» etc.
Awarding ceremony was hold by Olga Kusakina, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Dr. in Economics, Olga Cherednichenko, docent, and event planners. All the participants were awarded with honorary certificates and tasty eco gifts. Al the houses were hung in “Pavlov’s dacha” natural boundary.
