In the Stavropol State Agrarian University was held the second International environmental forum "Green economy: a strategy for sustainable development of cities and regions".
The forum was held in order to analyze the current situation for the implementation in the Russian Federation regions, including the Stavropol region the concept of "green economy."
Environmentalists, representatives of state and municipal authorities, the business community, science, universities, the media, non-governmental organizations discussed the key environmental issues in the modern world and new standards of eco-security, ways to improve the investment attractiveness and the formation of a positive image of Stavropol and North Caucasus federal district, also talked about establishing joint business contacts for the implementation of environmental projects.
The event was held by the vice-president of the Russian expert fund " TEHEKO " I.N. Lyakisheva. The plenary meeting was attended by the rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor V.I. Trukhachev. His report was of particular interest - the university rector highlighted the issues of rational use of natural resources, the conservation of soil fertility, resource conservation, biological function and the greening of plant, vegetable production, as well as the protection of public and private soil. The head of the Moscow office of "UN - Environment" V.V. Moshkalo in his speech suggested that the transition to a "green economy". Vice-president of the Russian expert fund "TEHEKO" (Moscow) A.G. Laskovenko spoke about the preparations for the scientific-practical conference on the results of the expert-analytical research fund "TEHEKO" consequences of British Petroleum disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. At the meeting were also made: advisor to the head of the Stavropol regional branch of Open Joint-Stock Company "Rosselkhozbank" A.N. Zolotarev, co-chairman of the Stavropol regional branch of the All-Russian public organization "Business Russia" S.L. Stepanov, co-chairman of the Stavropol regional branch of the Russian public organization "Support of Russia" P. P. Mrvalevich.
At the end of the second International Environmental Forum between the Stavropol State Agrarian University, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed an agreement on co-operation, it is fixed intention to work for sustainable development of agriculture to climate change; increase agricultural productivity through innovative technologies; the Stavropol State Agrarian University coordination with the study visit to the Department of Agriculture of FAO; clarify educational master programs of the Stavropol State Agrarian University taking into account the integration of FAO technical material in areas that are related to the competence of the organization, that is, food security and nutrition, climate change, etc.
On the program was the creative work and discussion platform: "Energy efficiency - determinant of the balanced development of the region", "New technologies in the development of agriculture."
The forum participants extensively discussed the state in the field of environmental protection problems and prospects of the environment, environmental management, creating a favorable ecological environment for the population. They summarized international experience in addressing complex use of natural resources and environmental improvement.
