"Peace March" continues

City Gorodovikovsk in Kalmykia was another point of the route where the rally "Peace March", initiated by the leadership of the Stavropol Territory, stopped. The delegation consisted of veterans and home front workers, students of the Stavropol State Agrarian University and the Cossack Cadet Corps named by Yermolov - about 80 people.

The delegation of Stavropol Territory took part in the rally to the anniversary of the removal occupation of the West ulus now Gorodovikovsky District. For the memory of those who never returned from the war, participants had a moment of silence and laid flowers at the memorial.

After the meeting the participants of the rally visited Gorodovikovsk secondary school № 4 named by Basan Gorodovikov, where they visited the museum, which also had his name. There was prepared an exhibition devoted to the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the guests met with students and staff of the school. Former director of the school, the veteran of Labour Evdokia Healy told about the events of 72 years ago, where she became an eyewitness as a schoolgirl.

A warm welcome awaited people and at Bashantinsky agricultural college named after Fyodor Popov. They also laid flowers to the monument of the hero of the Soviet Union.

The rally continues "Peace march" in the North Caucasus: Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia and North Ossetia. The main purpose of the action - to convey to the young generation the truth about the heroic past of our people, about what was the price to victory in that terrible war. The memory of those who gave us the peaceful sky overhead, should not be forgotten.
