Sports News: Powerlifting

In Sochi there took place the second stage of the European championship in powerlifting. The team of Stavropol Territory which included five athletes from SSAU took the 2nd place. The winners in the categories became Alexander Azarenko, Vigen Marutyan (the Faculty of Electric Power Engineering), Artur Shishalov, Tatiana Medvedeva (the Faculty of Socio-cultural service and tourism). The new record of Russia among girls was set up by Ekaterina Miroshnikova (the Faculty of Accounting and Finance).

Absolute champion became senior lecturer of the department of physical education and sport Nina V. Mukhortova! She exceeded by 10 kg the standard of master of sports of international class.

The third stage, multitournament “Golden Tiger” will be held in October in Ekaterinburg.

As a result of three stages of the championship there will be formed a team to take part in one of the prestigious tournament “Arnold Classic” (USA) and the World Championship which will take place in Israel.
