72nd Relay for the Victory Day
In the athletics relay race dedicated to the Victory Day for the prizes of the newspaper "Stavropolskaya Pravda", the team of girls of the Agrarian University was recognized as the best, the young men became prize-winners of the competitions.
The Organizer of the traditional sports festival, held on May 3 in the main square of the regional center, was the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the city of Stavropol together with the Athletics Federation of the Stavropol Territory. The competition was held among the teams of secondary schools, secondary special educational institutions, higher educational institutions of the city.
The team of Stavropol State Agrarian University took part in the race as part of two teams - 10 girls and 10 boys. As a result of the competition, the team of the Stavropol GAU girls became the winner of the 72nd track-and-field relay race, which showed the best result, sportsmanship and solidarity. The team of young men who took the second place demonstrated a high desire for victory.
As a reward, except for the cups and certificates of the Transport Committee and Stavropolka, the agrarians received a certificate for a free subscription to the newspaper Stavropolskaya Pravda for the second half of 2017. The 72nd relay race was held in the significant year - the year of the 100th anniversary of the publication of the first issue of the newspaper.

The main tasks of this citywide event are the preservation of the historical memory of the victory of Soviet soldiers in the fields of the Great Patriotic War, the patriotic education of youth, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the popularization of athletics.
It is interesting that when on the first anniversary of the Victory, in 1946, at the initiative of the newspaper, these competitions were held for the first time, no one could have guessed about such a long history. These starts have continued the glorious sports culture tradition, which symbolizes the inseparable connection of the generation of winners on the battlefield with the descendants who win at the sports arenas.
