Students’ public rescue team of SSAU has become the best in the Caucasus Cup in Terskol

Students’ public rescue team of SSAU became the firstin the V Open Competition of Search and Rescue Teams for the Cup of the Chief of the North Caucasian Regional Emergency Center of Russia "The Caucasus Cup", which took place from 29 May to 5 June in village Terskol of Elbrus District in Kabardino-Balkaria. The competition was attended by 23 teams of the North Caucasus and the Volga region, including professional rescuers and 9 students’ teams - representatives of regional branches of the All-Russian Student Rescuers Corps.

The SSAU team consisting of Daria Rozhkova and Alexei Rozhkov, Catherine Sukhorukova. Alexander Moky, Maxim Glebov and Ivan Bocharov performed successfully in all kinds of competition and in the team event, edged 8 rival teams from the North Caucasus Federal District. The organizer and the team coach is Igor Lyashov, a teacher of Physical Education and Sport Department.

In late June the students of SSAU rescue team will be certified and receive a certificate of "Rescuer"

The competition was held in four types (distances):

1. "Search and rescue operations in the natural environment conditions".

2. “Search and rescue operations in the waters".

3. "Cross 3000 meters and climbing up to 500 meters."

4. "Integrated power exercises."

It should be noted that the distance "Search and rescue operations (SRO) in the conditions of the natural environment" consisted of several stages (a set of exercises), which required from the participants the fullest manifestation of their physical, psychological, professional qualities and demonstration of steady skills of life-saving technologies application. Each stage of the first and second distances simulates the work of a duty shift of a search and rescue team at the specific search and rescue operations.

They provided aid to victims in the water bodies and on the rocks, avalanches and glaciers. The most spectacular were "Rafting on the mountain river", which took place in the vicinity of the village Elbrus, and "The Rock", which was organized on the difficult rocky area on the outskirts of Tyrnyauz.

The winning team in the general classification was determined by the maximum amount of points scored in all four stages of the competition. Team of Stavropol State Agrarian University became the first in the team students' competition. Second place went to the Dagestan regional branch of the student body of rescuers of the State University of the Republic of Dagestan. "Bronze" was won by the team of Dagestan Russian Union of Rescuers.

In the team competition of rescuers the first place and challenge "The Caucasus Cup" was taken by the Dagestan search and rescue team. Stavropol Search and Rescue Team won the second place. North Ossetian Search and Rescue Team is the third. Search and Rescue Team of the Stavropol Territory was recognized the best in photo competition.

Competitions were aimed at improving skills of search-and-rescue techniques, mastering best practices in the use of rescue tools and equipment, refining professional skills, as well as exchanging of search and rescue operations experience.

General requirements for the competition distances correspond to the Rules of service and applied sport "Multidiscipline competition of rescuers of Ministry of Emergency of Russia" approved by Order of the Ministry of Sports of Russia.
