Rook for skill and courage - in the hands of a boxer-student of the SSAU

All-Russian boxing competitions of class "A" were crowned with the stunning victory of Nikolai Umansky, a student at the Faculty of Mechanization of Agriculture of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

From 3 to 7 May in Magadan the All-Russian tournament-memorial on boxing of class "A" of memory of Olympic champion Valery Popenchenko in weight category 81 kg was held for the 46th time. This year more than 87 people from 15 regions of the country took part in them, among them 74 candidates for master of sports and 13 masters of sports. The honor of our region was defended by the student of the 4th year of the Stavropol State Agrarian University of the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization Nikolai Umanskiy. He took part in four complex battles, in which he scored a grand victory.

The student of SSAU was recognized as the best boxer of the tournament and received a gold medal and a diploma of the first degree, as well as a valuable prize from the Governor of Magadan Region Vladimir Pecheniy. Also Nikolai Umanskiy became the owner of the main passing trophy - a skilfully made huge wooden boat with the inscription “For skill and courage”, which is symbolically handed to the absolute winner of the tournament-memorial.

The rook as the main prize was established by the Olympic champion Valery Popenchenko, and the last two years went to Ivan Meleshin from Magadan, performing in the weight category of the Olympic champion - 75 kg. But in 2017 the situation was broken by Nikolai Umanskiy, a student of the Agrarian University. Coaching for his preparation for the competition was carried out by the teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, coach of the boxing team of the Agrarian University Vyacheslav Lychagin.

Let's note that the future mechanical engineer, student Nikolai Umanskiy, twice the champion of the Stavropol Territory (2015, 2016), at the landmark competitions in Magadan fulfilled the standard of the master of sports in boxing. In autumn, he will have to take a new height, participating in the Russian Championship. The staff of the agrarian high school desires Nikolay successful battles and is proud of his successes.
