The sixth round of the Summer Universiade of Russian Ministry of Agriculture universities ended with the victory of SSAU basketball players
Men's basketball team of the Stavropol State Agrarian University confidently won in the qualifying round of the sixth Summer Universiade of Ministry of Agriculture of Russia universities, which ended today in Stavropol. Young men from Gorsky State University of Agriculture (Vladikavkaz)became the second, in third place was won by the guys from Volgograd Agricultural University.
Female combined team of SSAU won the second place, giving the winning team of girls from Vladikavkaz. «We are glad to welcome guests in our university. Young people from different entities must communicate and keep good relations for many of our universities, our nations. It is a pity that not all higher education institutions put female teams, the tournament would have been more interesting», - Rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University noted.
Vladimir Ivanovich reminded glorious sporting tradition of the best agricultural university SFD and North Caucasus Federal District, bringing the deserved results: « Our team of mini football last week actually won in Moscow at the All-Russian competition of teams of all universities in the country. On Friday, a graduate of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance (2014), the famous diver Evgeny Kuznetsov won the gold medal in jumps from three-meter springboard in London and became a six-time European champion in jumping into the water from a springboard».
Rector awarded the winners with cups and medals. The ceremony finished with performances of dance groups and photos for memory.
Chief judge of the competition, the chairman of the sports club SSAU Alexander Marchenko told that for participation in the competition basketball teams of Gorsky, Kabardino-Balkaria, Volgograd State Agricultural Universities arrived in Stavropol.
The strongest Universiade teams will meet in the finals from 4 to 10 July on the basis of the Kuban State Agrarian University in Krasnodar.
