In Budennovsk, on the basis of Novotroitskye experimental breeding station, the governor of the Stavropol region Vladimir Vladimirov held a meeting on the results of the sowing of winter crops and the prospects for the formation of the 2016 harves. It was attended by scientists and farmers from our University: the Dean of the Faculty Agrobiology and Land Resources and the Environment and Landscape Architecture, professor A.N. Esaulkov, the Head of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Plant Physiology, associate professor M.S. Sigida, the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Plant Protection, associate professor A.P. Shutko and the Director of educational-experimental station A.V. Voskoboynikov.
Opening the meeting, the head of the region reminded about the tasks set before the country's agro-industrial complex by the President Vladimir Putin in his message to the Federal Assembly.
"To increase agricultural production, focusing on the quality and competitiveness of products is challenge facing farmers of the Territory" – said the governor. About five billion rubles will be allocated for its decision to support the agricultural sector next year. The Governor stressed that the goal of Stavropol farmers to obtain 10 million tons of grain harvest would remain relevant, and under these conditions, special attention should be paid to the timely application of fertilizers and high-quality farm policy.
According to scientists, now 89% of winter crops are in good and satisfactory condition. The Minister of Agriculture of the region Alexander Sitnikov reported on the prospects of the harvest in 2016. The meeting also discussed the adjustment of borders of soil-climatic zones of Stavropol, especially phytosanitary condition of the winter crop and agrochemical maintenance of winter crops.
