Each year, students of SSAU participate actively in events dedicated to the celebration of the International Students Day.
Today, our students take part in festivities called «International Students Day, or Shurik’s adventure». They will be held in the context of Cinema Year in Russia in the Stavropol park “Victory”. Students of all universities will present farmsteads, participate in contests, competitions on ice, dancing. Moreover, according to the information of Department for Youth Policy of Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Policy Committee of the city administration, on festivities each institution will present its Soviet film. Students of SSAU drew lots to present the famous comedy of Gaidai "Diamond Hand".
History of celebration of the Russian Students Day – International Students Day – has more than 250 years and is inseparably linked with the Enlightenment in Russia.
It is believed that exactly on the International Students Day in 1755 Empress Elizabeth signed a decree on the establishment in Moscow of the first Russian university (today MSU). The author of the project was General Ivan Shuvalov. The institution establishment was a gift for not only all Russia, but also for Shuvalov’s mother Tatiana, that’s why the popular quotation appeared «I present a university to you». Thus, martyr Tatiana became the patron of Moscow University and all the students.
Since 2006 the International Students Day according to the presidential edict became the national holiday - the Day of Russian Students.
