In memory of the fallen heroes

1st year Faculty of Economics students took part in the meeting dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Stavropol from Nazi invaders, which took place at the memorial "Eternal Fire of Glory".

In the meeting region and city leaders, veterans, schoolchildren, students, military and ordinary citizens took part. Member of the Berlin storming Pavel Zakharchenko told the audience about the occupation and the liberation of the regional capital and announced a minute of silence in memory of the dead fellow-heroes. About 320 thousand of Stavropol region people fought in the Soviet Army.

On January, 21st in 1943 on 8 a.m. Soviet troops liberated Voroshilovsk, as Stavropol was called then. During the almost half a year occupation over 10 thousand of citizens became victims of the Nazi invaders, one-third of the victims were the children.

Curator of freshmen participating in the meeting, Senior Lecturer of Economic Theory and Economics chair Е. Rusanovskiy emphasized high degree of organization of students of agrarian university and a great interest to the history of the city. At the meeting it was mentioned that the task of the current generation is to keep the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, those who on the battlefield and in the rear forged the victory over fascism.

After the minute of silence children laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and visited the exhibition "Stavropol region in a soldier's overcoat", dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Stavropol from Nazi occupation, which opened on this day in the museum "Memory".
