Geographical network of fertilizer experiments is 75 years old

The All-Russian meeting of academic institutions was attended by the doctor of agricultural sciences, professor A.N. Esaulko, Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and land resources, ecology and landscape architecture of Stavropol State Agrarian University.

In the All-Russian Research Institute of Agrochemistry named after Pryanishnikov on 6 October there was a meeting of scientific institutions - participants of the Geographic network of experiments with fertilizers. At the anniversary event, a report on the status and prospects of the geographical network experiments with fertilizers in Stavropol region was presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and land resources and ecology and landscape architecture Alexander Esaulko.

He recalled that Stavropol State Agrarian University is for many years the regional coordinator of the geographic network of experiments with fertilizers. In 1976 Academician of the RAAS Victor M. Penchukov and Professor Valentin V. Ageev in the experimental station of the university a multi-factor station was established. And then for 40 years, optimization of fertilizer systems has been studied on the background of the modification of field crop rotation, the main methods of tillage. Since it is long stationary field experiments that is the basis of the basic agrochemical research.

Based on studies conducted by scientists of SSAU the results of which are reflected in 7 doctoral and 30 master's theses, the regularities of change agrochemical indicators of chernozem leached depending on the time factor, improving the system of fertilizers and methods of physical changes in soil fertility were established.

Today, scientists of Stavropol State Agrarian University continue to develop the theory of mineral nutrition, optimization of fertilizer systems, programming productivity of field crops. However, there are problems for long-term stations. Among them there is the expansion of settlements, the interest in land plots of various business structures, and so on. Therefore, only through the support of the Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, director of the Institute of Agricultural Chemistry Academician Victor Gavrilovich Sychev, Division of Agricultural Sciences of RAS and the status confirmed by certificate of long experience we managed to defend our unique high school station. It became a place of joint activities of employees of Stavropol, Kuban State Agrarian Universities, the University named after Timiryazev and others. However, in the future such research stations should receive a legal status of specially protected land.
