At the meeting of the Academic Council held on 3 February, the Rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University Vladimir Trukhachev noted the teachers’ achievements at the prize-giving ceremony. These teachers have trained skilled personnel for agricultural industry of the country and Stavropol territory for many years as well as employees ensuring effective operation of university infrastructure.

Honorary certificates of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation were awarded to Vladimir Halyutkin, professor of Physical Science Department, Nikolai Kornilov, professor of Ecology and Landscape Construction Department and Olga Lobankova, associate professor of Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Plant Physiology.

Recognition letters of Russian Ministry of Agriculture were presented to nine university professors and experts, five employees - Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Diplomas of the Ministry of Agriculture of Stavropol Territory and the Ministry of Education and Youth politics of the Stavropol territory were awarded to ten members of the University staff.

Medal "For Valorous Labour» III degree of the Governor of the Stavropol Territory was awarded to honored professor of Department of parasitology and veterinary and sanitary inspection, anatomy and pathological anatomy n.a. by S.N. Nikolsky, Vasily Petrovich Tolokonnikov.

University management and the staff of the Agrarian University congratulated Vladimir Vasilievich Gnilyak, a driver of the SSAU, with awarding a title "Honored Worker of the agro-industrial complex of the Stavropol Territory".

Members of the Academic Council also welcomed the winners of the VII All-Russian contest "Agrarian educational book," distinguished in the category "Agricultural economy." Writing team of Department of Economics and Agribusiness Economy, headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Professor, Olga Nikolaevna Kusakina has become the winner of the contest, which was held by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, for the textbook "Economics of organization."

The first in this year Academic Council of the Stavropol State Agrarian University continued detailed discussion, dedicated to the results of the research work of the University over the past year and the prospects for development of innovative activity in 2017.

Keynote address was presented by the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Vitaly Y. Morozov, who drew attention of the university research community to the key Russian legislative documents for AIC, including the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation № 350 from 21.07.2016 "On measures for implementation of the state scientific and technical policy in the interest of the development of agriculture”. As co-reporters the Vice-deans made their speeches. Next, in a positive and businesslike manner numerous components of the innovation activities of the university were discussed, questions and concerns were voiced; growth areas in science and the key steps in their direction were identified.

Sharing clear position of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture that the country is waiting for a breakthrough, which should be provided by new and effective scientific developments and technologies in agribusiness, Academician Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev called reputable scientists and young researchers of the Stavropol State Agrarian University to effective innovative work: "Work Fruitfully on the highest level in close cooperation with colleagues from other universities, research institutes, agribusiness. Be closer to production. Actively participate in contests and win grants. We should increase research activity, strengthen the position of scientific schools and directions. We have areas for improvement, we know the problem and we have no right to stop! "- concluded the rector V.I. Trukhachev.
