Stavropol State Agrarian University holds events dedicated to the Day of Russian Science - 2017

On the eve of the main holiday of Russian scientists at the university’s venue competition of exhibition of scientific achievements of the faculties of Stavropol State Agrarian University was held. On the date of Day of Russian science events are actively held at the Museum of University History and Scientific Library.

On the 7^th February employee, students and guests of the university were met by the colorful exhibitions of scientific achievements of the faculties of Stavropol State Agrarian University. Visitors can get acquainted with the latest scientific developments.

For example, at the Faculty of Electrification guests were met by robots, and the staff presented the current developments in the field of alternative energy sources and the latest achievements of the faculty in the field of software engineering.

Faculty of Accounting and Finance and Faculty of Economics announced the latest developments in the field of information technology, which have already found their implementation in the regional Ministry of Agriculture and the enterprises of the Stavropol Territory.

Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization surprised the audience with innovative developments in the field of resource saving. They include: technology of poultry waste processing; modernized fixed compounds used to improve the efficiency of harvesting machinery and cultivator’s paws; filters for milk purifying; combined disc coulters and other devices and components.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Technological Management presented with developments in the field of genetic engineering, biotechnology, and they also demonstrated a regional model of management by high-producing animal genetic resources developed by scientists of SSAU. University experience in implementing the ICAR methodology was introduced to the guests of the exhibition.

Faculty of Agrobiology and Faculty of Land Resources, Ecology and Landscape Architecture also have something to be proud of. They have development in a variety of ways - in the cultivation of vegetables in a greenhouse; land management, surveying and Earth's remote sensing, land monitoring; landscape architecture; winemaking and fermentation technologies.

Besides competitive exhibitions, events dedicated to the Day of Russian Science are actively held at the Museum of University History and the University Library. With the participation of the faculties in the Museum of history of the University following events are held: City Tour "Outstanding scientists of SSAU in livestock, veterinary and agricultural sciences", a round table works "Innovations for Youth," quiz "Do you know the university history?", «Via a ladder of business." It promises to be interesting business game "Business Innovation" and competition "Cultural and historical centers of the south of Russia." Scientific-practical seminar "Actual problems of tourism development in the North Caucasus" will be organized.

In the reading hall of the Scientific Library of SSAU presentation on plasma informs about the history of the holiday - the Day of Russian Science. Readers are being waited by a book exhibition "Classics of agricultural science" dedicated to Russian scientists, farmers, and in the media center exhibition of Bio-bibliography of leading scientists of Stavropol State Agrarian University is located - "Life lived with science." Bio-bibliography was compiled by employees of the Scientific Library and contains sketches of the scientist’ activity, the main stages of life and bibliographic descriptions of his work. In the museum of rare books, you can get acquainted with the exhibition "The scientists-agrarians of Russia"; it consists of the book of outstanding Russian scientists - the classics of agricultural science and selected works of Michurin, Dokuchaev, Vavilov, V. R. Williams, Timiryazev.

It will be useful for young researchers to get acquainted with the publications of SSAU scientists in periodicals and books, learn scientometrical indicators of Stavropol State Agrarian University in the Russian and international bibliographic databases - all these are offered by the exhibition "Scientometrics in modern science." It takes place in the bibliographic and information center of the Scientific Library of SSAU. The purpose of the exhibition is to systematize the knowledge of the scientists of Agrarian University about Scientometrical and bibliometrical indices and improve the efficiency of scientific activity.

It should be noted that the university library implements projects to support scientific work, "Bibliography support of publication activity of the University authors" and "Promotion of publication activity of the leading scientists of the Stavropol State Agrarian University." The first aim of the project is to contribute in the growth of the number and quality of publications and citation indices of scientists’ publications both in Russian Science Citation Index, and in the international scientometric systems. The project promotes scientific works of the University authors by publishing biobibliography of leading scientists organizing exhibitions and presentations.

Having visited the Research Library of alma mater on the Day of Russian Science, students of Agrarian University have learned what is "Scientometrics", what kinds of the Science Citation Database can be, how to prepare and issue a scientific article properly. Students were introduced to information materials, presented at the exhibition. Young people were particularly interested in biobibliographical edition of the leading scientists of the University Library and the lifetime editions of the classics of agricultural science from the Museum of rare books.
