On the basis of the Scientific-Diagnostic and Medical-Veterinary Center of the Stavropol State Automobile Inspection, representatives of the testing laboratory of the state corporation "RUSNANO" and employees of IDS LLC conducted a training seminar on a new real-time PCR technology (PCR-RV, Real-Time PCR).
Its principal feature is the possibility of detecting the accumulation of amplification products-an increase in the number of copies of DNA that underlies the polymerase chain reaction, and directly during PCR. The information obtained can be used to monitor the effectiveness of the therapy, to assess the clinical prognosis.
Unlike other methods for quantifying the DNA of the template in the sample, real-time PCR does not require additional manipulation associated with the DNA digestion of the sample or PCR amplicons that complicate the analysis and can lead to false positive results. Such an approach allows us to abandon the electrophoresis stage, which leads to a sharp decrease in the probability of contamination of the test samples with amplification products, and also reduces the requirements for the PCR laboratory.
The seminar on the new PCR technology concluded with a discussion in which specialists answered the questions asked. Participants of the seminar were provided with a list of information materials Real-Time PCR for acquaintance and study.
At present, the scientific and material and technical base created in the Stavropol State Agricultural University allows introducing a new diagnostic technology - Real-Time PCR - into clinical veterinary laboratory practice.
This technology will expand the scope of research work carried out by researchers, teachers, graduate students, students of the Stavropol State University. In addition, there will be an opportunity to participate in innovative grant programs, conduct new joint research with leading Russian and foreign universities.
