The annual, this year anniversary, volleyball tournament dedicated to the memory of Sergey Spiridonovich Serikov took place in the sports complex of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.
In the regional sport there are a lot of nice names, but the name of Sergey Spiridonovich Serikov is rightly considered a landmark for Stavropol volleyball. The legendary virtuoso of the volleyball game S.S. Serikov was a multiple champion of the Stavropol Territory and the South of Russia, repeatedly became a prize-winner of all-Russian competitions, was also a champion of the Soviet Union among the teachers' union. But his main contribution to the development of volleyball is trained pupils.
The jubilee tournament-memorial in honour of the Stavropol sportsman-patriarch, organized for the 35th time, was attended by the best volleyball women's and men's teams in Stavropol and the region, as well as teams of veterans of this game.
The fighting spirit and solidarity of the team of agrarians once again helped the Stavropol State Automobile Inspectorate to prove their advantage among the volleyball elite of the region! So, among the women's teams honourable I place was taken by the national team of SSAU, and the best among the players was the graduate of the economic faculty of the agricultural university Yulia Bondarenko. On the second place - the team of LLC Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol, the team of the Stavropol radio plant Signal closes the top three.
Among the men's teams, the national team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the UK won the championship, the "silver" went to "Dynamo" Stavropol, "bronze" - from the PPO UTT and ST Gazprom transgaz Stavropol.
No less actively fought for the prize and veterans. As a result, Nasirov's design workshop won the victory. Having lost the palm of the championship, the second place was taken by a team of veterans of the Stavropol State University. On the "bronze" pedestal are the veterans of Stavropol.

After the transfer of Sergei Spiridonovich Serikov to the Stavropol Agricultural Institute in the early 1960s, where he worked for more than 20 years as a senior teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the era of dominance of volleyball players of the agricultural university and "Urozhai" in All-Union and All-Russian competitions began.
Over the years, he trained hundreds of athletes; first-order and candidates for the master of sports, and six of his pupils were awarded the title of masters of sports of the USSR, which in those years was a fantastic achievement!
Volleyball players of the Agricultural Institute became five-time champions of the USSR among the higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture. The team "Harvest", formed on the basis of the university, the repeated champion of Russia, twice became the champion of the All-Russian rural games (1978 and 1982) and many times was among the prize-winners. "Backbone" of the Russian team, which won the IV All-Union rural games, was also the pupils of Sergei Spiridonovich. And this is a very high level, because the national teams of the Union republics competed!
