Professor I.P. Barabash celebrates 80th anniversary!

The teaching staff and students of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources together with the rector and the trade union committee of the staff of the Stavropol State Agrarian University warmly and heartily congratulated the professor of the department of production and processing of food products from plant raw materials of Ivan Petrovich Barabash on his 80th birthday!

Ivan Petrovich Barabash was born on September 10, 1937 in the village of Kurshava of the Mineralovodsky district of the Stavropol Territory. In 1965 he graduated from the Stavropol Agricultural Institute with a degree in Agronomy. From 1965 to 1967 he worked as a foreman of the horticultural brigade of the Beshtau-Tempelgoff state farm of the Mineralovodsky district. In 1968 he entered the graduate school of the Stavropol Agricultural Institute and in 1974 defended his thesis on "Production and biological assessment of surgical techniques for accelerating the fruiting of apple trees" in the specialty "Fruit growing".

Ivan Petrovich began his work at the Department of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Viticulture of the Stavropol Agricultural Institute in 1969, first as a senior lecturer, then as an assistant professor.

Scientific interests in fruit growing and viticulture of the Stavropol Territory allowed Ivan Petrovich to collect and substantiate scientific material, which later became the basis of his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Production and Biological Assessment of the Technology of Using Physiologically Active Substances in Horticulture." Defense of the doctoral dissertation was held in 1974.

In 1989, by order of the Stavropol Agricultural Institute, Ivan Petrovich Barabash was appointed head of the department of fruit and vegetable growing and viticulture, where he held this position until 2008.

The main areas of scientific research of I. P. Barabash currently remain fruit growing and viticulture. He published more than 160 scientific works, educational and scientific-methodical manuals, 2 monographs. For his work Ivan Petrovich Barabash was awarded a prize of the Central Council of the All-Union Society of Inventors and Innovators under the Council of Ministers of the USSR, a bronze medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements, a diploma of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. His total work experience in the industry is 58 years, of which 48 are at the university.

Ivan Petrovich Barabash belongs to a galaxy of distinguished scientists whose merits are recognized by the universal recognition of the scientific community of the country and the honorary title "Honored Viticulturist of the Stavropol Territory". Fundamental research and development of Professor I.P. Barabash made a significant contribution to the development of advanced fields of scientific thought, expanding the boundaries of knowledge. Ivan Petrovich Barabash tirelessly proves his love for the profession, like a true patriot of his native land and Russia, with his work devoted to the Fatherland.
