The use of modern SNP genotyping technologies to improve the productive qualities of farm animals

Veterinarians, geneticists, livestock breeders, technicians and heads of farms of the Russian region as a part of a pilot group of 62 people completed the training on educational professional training program.

This educational project is implemented with the support of the Fund for infrastructure and educational programs (RUSNANO Group). As participants in the training participated the representatives of Bryansk and Bashkir veterinary laboratories, Penza, Moscow and Orenburg regional veterinary laboratories; Stavropol interregional veterinary laboratory, Balakovo district stations to combat animal diseases (Saratov oblast), Engels district stations to combat animal disease station for combating animal diseases Tikhvin and Boksitogorsky district (Leningrad oblast), Domodedovo district station to combat animal diseases, St.-Petersburg city station on struggle against illnesses of animals; all-Russian research Institute of sheep breeding and goat breeding, the Ural research Institute of agriculture; Altai state agricultural UNIVERSITY, State agrarian University of Northern Urals, Stavropol state agrarian University, and experts of farms of the Stavropol territory – SPK "Plemzavod the Second five-year" SPK kolkhoz Rodina, SPK collective farm-Plemzavod "Kazminsky".

From 20 to 22 September, the work of full-time study was organized in four parallel groups. In the format of practical exercises the students demonstrated specialized laboratory equipment to conduct SNP genotyping of such companies, as LLC "Sartorius Rus" and LLC "Roche Diagnostics Rus". Classes are conducted by specialists of "Innovative diagnostic systems", LLC "Sartorius Rus", LLC "Roche Diagnostics Rus", as well as teachers of the Stavropol state agrarian University and the Russian research Institute of genetics and animal breeding. Upon completion of training, participants were awarded certificates of advanced training.
