Practice is better than theory!

To learn the intricacies of the future profession, to be able to master practical skills, students of the Stavropol State Agrarian University are more likely to visit specific industries, communicate with leading specialists and get to know their work.

So, one of the recent classes for students of the faculty of veterinary medicine was held in the Stavropol Interregional Veterinary Laboratory, a significant part of its employees are graduates of the veterinary faculty of the agricultural university.

The Stavropol State Agrarian University has been maintaining strategic relations with the Stavropol Interregional Veterinary Laboratory for more than 20 years. Currently, the institution has 17 departments, where diagnostic studies are conducted for more than 100 diseases. Here isolates and identify pathogens of bacterial, viral diseases of animals, birds of fur-bearing animals, fish, bees, perform a comprehensive analysis of feeds and their components in order to establish quality, safety, nutritional value, the presence of DNA of ruminant animals and GMOs. Every year, experts introduce new methods and types of research into diagnostic practice, most of which are conducted on modern equipment.

With the activity of the laboratory, third-year students of the Agrarian University were acquainted with her leading specialists: Head of the Department of Virology and Molecular Diagnostics Dikova Svetlana Petrovna; head of the department of pathomorphology, sample preparation and bioassay production Fisher Marina Vladimirovna; Head of the department of bacteriology, preparation and control of nutrient media Malkova Elena Valerievna, microbiologist Dragaman Natalia Anatolievna.

But for the future ecologists, connoisseurs of green oases, as part of the study of the discipline "Basics of forest park economy", the place of an open practical lesson was chosen the most beautiful Theater Square in the city of Stavropol! And that's why.

Assistant of the Department of Ecology and Landscape Construction of Stavropol State University A.O. Kasatkina told the students of the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture how, in the early 60s of the last century, according to the project of architect I. Lysyakova by the city trust "Urban forestry", led by I. I. Burym , the device of the park-arboretum began.

Nalchik brought blue spruce from here, from Armavir - eastern plane tree. Vasiliy Vasilyevich Skripchinsky, who, incidentally, taught at the agricultural institute, specially traveled to the Arkhyz nature reserve for birches. But such as were needed for the main square of the regional capital - slim, level, single "growth" - in the mountains they were not found, and they had to be transported from central Russia, from Bryansk. That's literally on a solid stone and the arboretum was created, where today trees and bushes are represented almost from all our vast country. The square-arboretum (now called Theater Theater) became a unique decoration in the green necklace of Stavropol.

After acquaintance with the history of the appearance of the beloved corner of man-made nature, the students of the 3rd year of the direction "Landscape architecture" received individual assignments and, having united in groups, studied the dendrological characteristics of tree and shrub vegetation in the park for two hours.
