On November 17-19, the Israeli Open Powerlifting Championships of the Federation of GPC (Global Powerlifting Community) took place in the arena of the Dune sports complex in Ashdod, where every member of the Stavropol State Agrarian University team was recognized as the best of the best.
The inseparable four powerlifters of the Stavropol State Agrarian University Israel met with friendly, beautiful weather and a warm atmosphere. 114 sportsmen from Slovakia, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Czech Republic, Israel, the USA have gathered for competitions of the Open championship in the city of Ashdod. Among the participants were world champions, and record-breakers in different age groups (from 13 to 80+) and weight categories.
Only Israel was represented by teams from Haifa, Nazareth, Migdal Ha'emeke, Jerusalem, Baka al-Gharbiy, Holon, Bat Yam, Ashdod. The championship was held by the Israeli Federation of GPC, at its opening the head of the federation Valery Tomilov expressed gratitude to all representatives of the countries participating in the tournament and their sponsors.
Athletes acted both in triathlon, and in separate disciplines. One of the most famous participants of the championship, for example, was Jan Velgi from Slovakia (age under 18, weight category up to 120 kg), which in Ashdod set an unofficial world record - 340 kg in bench press bench. Three sportsmen took part in the tournament age over 80 years!
Second-year student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources of the Stavropol State Agrarian University Nikolay Korshunov set a record in squats among juniors - 320 kg (in the 100 kg weight class) with a sum of 805 kg.
It is often said that lifting weights is not a female sport, but only 18 athletes competed in these competitions. Among them is the world record holder Nina Mukhortova. Speaking in the weight category up to 60 kg, the teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Stavropol State Agrarian University at the age of 51 broke all the myths and once again proved what a sport obsession and the will to win is capable of. Nina Vyacheslavovna brilliantly beat athletes from Germany (silver) and Israel (bronze), became the absolute champion in open categories for powerlifting with the sum of 375 kg and the bench press 100 kg!
The title of absolute champion among juniors was achieved by the 2nd year student of the faculty of veterinary medicine of the Stavropol State Agrarian University Yulia Drobysheva - with the amount of 260 kg in the category of 67.5 kg!
Student 3 years of the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization Skrynnikov Vyacheslav won the category of juniors 82.5 kg with a sum of 560 kg!
By the way, titled powerlifters thank the rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University: "Without the support of Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, these victories might not have been. But we justified all our hopes." Note that the organizers of the tournament for champions and prize-winners organized excursions to the Dead Sea and the city of Jerusalem.
