Bronze fighter of the All-Russian Greco-Roman wrestling tournament

A student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Stavropol State University Arsen Oganyants took 3rd place at the VII All-Russian Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament, dedicated to the memory of the Honored Coach of Russia VD Novikov.

Sports competition was held on November 24-26 with the participation of wrestlers from Moscow, the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions, Kalmykia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Chechnya. About 200 athletes of 17-19 years from 14 subjects of the Federation, as well as from the Republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Donetsk Republic came to the carpet. The battles were complex, as the regions sent their best representatives of the sport.

Meetings of Greco-Roman wrestlers on the basis of the Krasnodar sports and health club "Spartak" were held in 8 weight categories. According to the results of the tournament of the All-Russian level, in the weight category 84 kg a bronze medal was won by a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Stavropol State University.

All-Russian tournament in memory of the Honored Coach of Russia Vyacheslav Novikov, the founder of the Kuban school of Greco-Roman wrestling, is held for the 7th consecutive year. It was thanks to V.D. Novikov that the Kuban team at the time was among the best in the RSFSR.

From next year, the tournament of V. Novikov's memory will be included in the All-Russian calendar of Greco-Roman wrestling competitions and will be one of the stages of training athletes for the most important starts of the season.
