Prize-winner of the Williams readings

The scientific report of the student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources of SSAU Anastasia Solomycheva, dedicated to the state of soils of the Izobilnensky district of Stavropol Territory, brought her "silver" success at the International Youth Scientific Conference in Timiryazev Agricultural Academy.

On World Soil Day - December 5, the Russian State Agrarian University - MAAA named after K.A. Timiryazev hosted the annual International Youth Scientific Conference "Williams readings". The conference was named in honor of the graduate of the academy, the outstanding scientist V.R. Williams, the founder of the Soil Science Department and its leader for 45 years. The organizer of the readings was the Chair of Soil Science, Geology and Landscape Studies of the State Agrarian University – MAAA named after K.A. Timiryazev with the assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Leading scientists of the Timiryazev Academy delivered plenary reports. The main problems of the speeches were related to the problems of soil degradation and protection. The "Williams readings" were attended by students, undergraduates, graduate students from 21 universities in Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus.

Stavropol State Agrarian University was represented by Solomycheva Anastasia, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources of the "Land Management and Cadastre" direction, who was selected in the summer of 2017, and on December 5 she successfully performed at the conference in Moscow, taking the second place. A. Solomycheva's report "Physical degradation of soils of the Izobilnensky district" was prepared under the guidance of her scientific tutor - head of the land management and cadastre department, candidate of agricultural sciences, assistant professor A. V. Loshakov.
