Their memory is embalmed in our hearts

Representatives of the Student Center for Civic Patriotic Education "Patriot" of SSAU under the guidance of the Department for Educational Work and Social Issues participated in a round table that was held on January 18 in the Duma of the Stavropol Territory.

The Stavropol Territory celebrates the 75th anniversary of liberation from the German fascist invaders. The organizers of the event in the Duma of the Stavropol Territory were members of the Council of Elders of the regional Parliament. Speakers of the Duma Gennady Yagubov, deputies Yuri Gontar, Valentina Muravieva, Yury Bely, Pyotr Marchenko, heads of several ministries and departments, representatives of public organizations and the scientific community, students and schoolchildren took part in the discussion of the topic.

Participants paid tribute to the memory of Veniamin Gosdanker, a member of veteran organization and Council of Elders, who recently has left this life, noting his great contribution to the preservation of the history of the Stavropol region.

The chairman of the Council of Elders, the head of the regional veteran organization Alexei Gonochenko, who spoke as the leader of the round table, said that the memory about the heroic pages of the past of our region is now especially valuable, because it must be reported to a younger generation that is just beginning their independent life.

Gennady Yagubov, the chairman of the Duma of the Stavropol Territory, addressed the round table participants. He stressed that the fascist occupation will forever remain one of the most tragic pages of the history of the city, the region and the whole country. During the six-month occupation, more than 30 thousand of our compatriots died.

During the work It was also noted that despite the fact that 75 years have passed since the terrible events, much remains to be done to preserve the historical memory : to clarify the archival data, to bury the fallen, and to put military memorials in order.

There are many undeservedly forgotten episodes in the history of the liberation of our region, as well as in general in the battle for the North Caucasus. Many of them are connected with the east of Stavropol, where for the sake of victory thousands of Red Army soldiers have given lives on the battlefield. In this regard, Yuri Gontar said that work is currently underway to establish honorary titles for the populated areas of the region associated with the heroic pages of Stavropol history.

Within the memorable historical date on January 21, the Day of the Open Doors will be held at the Memory Museum. On January 22, a solemn meeting will be held, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Stavropol from the Nazi invaders; January 23 - intellectual game "Voroshilovsky shooter" among students of higher educational institutions of the city. The theme of the game is "Stavropol military". Teams will compete in the knowledge of the history of their native city during the Great Patriotic War and the soldiers-Stavropol, famous on the battlefields.
