Remembered the heroes of Stalingrad

On the 3d of February, students and teachers of the Stavropol State Agrarian University participated in a commemorative rally in honor of the 75th anniversary of the defeat by Soviet troops of German fascist troops in the Battle of Stalingrad.

The counteroffensive at Stalingrad is one of the largest battles of the Great Patriotic War, which has become the beginning of its radical turn. By the number of people and equipment involved on both sides, the world military history of such examples of battles has not yet been known.

200 days of the heroic defense of Stalingrad , it is one of the most cruel and bloody pages of the Great Patriotic War. Each defender of the city wrote his name in the heroic history of the Motherland. In those terrible battles to expand the ring around Stalingrad, natives of Stavropol also participated. Their valor in June 1942 was shown by the 19-year-old gunner Ivan Redkokashin, who graduated from the infantry school and stood with the other fighters to death on the right side of the Volga.

Subsequently, Junior Sergeant Ivan Redkokashin fought in the Kursk Bulge, crossed the Dnieper and liberated Ukraine, where he was seriously wounded by a fragment of a mine. Ivan Redkokashin was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, military medals "For Courage", "For the Defense of Stalingrad", "For Forcing the Dnieper", "For Victory over Germany" and also for labor awards.

After the war, the graduate of the Stavropol Agricultural Institute, I. E. Redkokashin, worked as the chief zootechnician of the region, he became an example of patriotism and courage for many generations of alma mater. Year 2018 is anniversary for Ivan, this is the year of his 95th anniversary .On a commemorative event on February 3, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the counteroffensive at Stalingrad, gathered about 8 thousand residents of Stavropol. More than 200 students and teachers of the Stavropol State Agrarian University became participants in the rally and festive concert.

Vladimir Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Olga Timofeeva, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Stavropol Pyotr Kuralesov, Chairman of the Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society, Cavalier of the Three Orders of Courage Sergey Shevelev addressed the rally participants.

Peter Kuralesov recalled that during the period from July 17, 1942 to February 2, 1943, more than a million Soviet soldiers and officers were killed near Stalingrad!

By the number of losses of the warring sides, the Battle of Stalingrad is one of the bloodiest in the history of humanity. The total area of the battle area was more than 90 thousand square kilometers. The enemy lost about 1.5 million dead, wounded, captured and missing. It was destroyed about 3.5 thousand enemy tanks and assault guns, more than 10 thousand artillery barrels and mortars, up to 3 thousand combat and transport aircraft.
