Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I. Trukhachev took part in the Council of the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education, held on February 8 in Novosibirsk.
The visiting session of the Presidential Council for Science and Education was held at Novosibirsk House of Scientists, the main topic of the discussion was “On the Global Competitiveness of Russian Science”. The focus was on the main tasks and prospects for the development of Russian science, the key areas of international scientific and technical cooperation.
Congratulating all the Russian scientists on their professional day, the President of Russia V. Putin noted that today's cardinal technological changes occurring in the world are comparable in scale to the epochs of industrial revolutions and scientific discoveries that radically changed the way people live on our planet.
- The leader will be the one who will have his own technologies, knowledge, competences. They become the most important resource for development, they ensure the sovereignty of the country, - the President emphasized.
- The general task posed by President Vladimir V. Putin to get into the science of a real breakthrough is certainly related to agrarian science, - Academician V.I. Trukhachev commented upon his return to the university. - Each project, in which scientists of our university are involved, is aimed at a concrete practical result, significant for the region or the country as a whole. But we must go further! To have long horizons is to think about the internationalization of scientific activity, to strengthen academic mobility and international cooperation, to strengthen the research and technological infrastructure - university laboratories and centres. And of course, we should continue to support talented and promising scientific youth for the future.
Pointing out in the course of the Council what kind of national science to be, prominent Russian scientists came to the conclusion that it was necessary to radically change the main approach - to get away from the dead-end branch of development towards the nature-like science.
