In the International competition of research works future power engineers were distinguished

12.02.2018

Students of the Electric Power Faculty of the Stavropol State Agrarian University Kaitov Magomed and Uryadov Nikolay won first-degree diplomas in the prestigious International Competition “Best Research Work – 2018”.

The competition was organized by the International Centre for Scientific Cooperation “Science and Education” (Penza) with the aim to promote the effective development of science and innovation, the integration of Russian science into the world information science space and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Among more than 50 works in the final and submitted by authors from different universities in Russia and abroad, special mention was made of the scientific work of two students of the electric power faculty of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

Second-year student Kaitov Magomed and freshman Uryadov Nikolay have been preparing for the competition under the guidance of the PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Physics Department Oksana Sergeevna Kopylova.

Kaitov Magomed prepared an article “Magnetic fluid. Making a magnetic fluid”. Here is what the enthusiastic student said about his work:

- Ferromagnetic liquids are colloidal systems consisting of ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic particles of nanometer sizes suspended in a carrier fluid, usually an organic solvent or water. For magnetic fluids many useful applications have been invented: for sealing shafts and pistons, for "eternal" lubrication, for collecting oil spilled on water and even for direct conversion of thermal energy to mechanical. I was curious to know how it all happens. And I decided to write a research paper, and also to conduct some fascinating and visual experiments devoted to this interesting topic. It turned out that it is possible to produce by own hands a liquid reacting to a magnetic field, practically to everyone. But of course, its quality is much worse than that obtained chemically.

The subject of the study of the student Nikolay Uryadov was the use of ferrites in microwave devices.

- Modern navigation and communication, television, physical studies of matter, biological analysis, applied medicine and other fields of science and technology are inconceivable without the microwave range equipment, - the first-year student shares. - Due to their properties, ferrites are used to create a wide class of nonreciprocal microwave devices, and the dependence of the ferrite parameters on the strength of the external magnetic field makes it possible to create controlled microwave devices on their basis. Therefore, taking up this subject, I tried to understand the physics of the phenomena occurring inside such devices.

Congratulations to future power engineers! Their first scientific victories speak about worthy training from the scientific leader, the dedication of the students themselves, as well as the responsible approach of students to international competitions.
