On 1-2 March, on the basis of the Stavropol SAU, a coordination meeting was held, concluding the international project "Sustainable Development of Agriculture and Rural Territories".
The international cooperation for creating unique competencies.
The event was attended by representatives of Hohenheim University (Germany), three universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Kostanay State University named after Baytursynov, Kazakh Agrotechnological University named after S. Seifullin, Kokshetau State University named after Sh. Ualikhanov, as well as scientists from six agrarian universities of Russia - the RSAU-MAA named after K.A. Timiryazev, the Buryat State Agricultural Academy, the Omsk Michurin, Novosibirsk and Stavropol State Agrarian Universities.
Opening the meeting, the rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, noted that international cooperation is one of the main directions of the university's activities. Over the past 10 years, the staff of the State Agrarian University has implemented international grant programs: NetWater "The Network of University Programs for Master of Science in Water Management Technologies" (Italy), RUDECO "Additional Professional Education in Rural Development and Ecology" (Germany), GreenMa "The network of university programs for the training of masters in the field of energy conservation and environmental control"(Italy) and, of course, in this series - the SARUD project “Sustainable development of agriculture and rural territories” (Germany), within the framework of which the Coordination meeting was held.
The scientific adviser, SARUD project coordinator, Professor Martin Dieterich, in turn, stressed that the implementation of projects in the field of sustainable agricultural development is an important stage in achieving sustainable and balanced (taking into account the ecological, economic and social aspects) functioning of rural areas. And the work in this direction of a large consortium makes it possible to consider these issues from the positions of scientists of different countries and specialties, and the opening of master's programs became the basis for training personnel with unique competencies in this field.
The program of the final event on the basis of the Stavropol Agrarian University included discussion of the reports of partner universities on the development and implementation of training programs for masters; creation of knowledge platform and national network in the field of sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas. The participants developed a quality control and monitoring plan for the results of the SARUD and summed up the results of the international project, which, ultimately, provides for the formation of trained personnel for universities.
Through the achievement of the goal - to sustainability of the project
The main goal of the SARUD project is the development and implementation in the educational process on the sites of Russian and Kazakhstan universities of the master's program "Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development". The Stavropol State Agrarian University, in particular the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture, provided advisory assistance in the formation of master's programs, and also organized didactic and methodological seminars for higher educational institutions - academic partners.
Although the project is nearing completion, the rector of the SSAU Vladimir Trukhachev is committed to long-term cooperation with both Kazakh universities and European ones, which are also for a mutually beneficial partnership. The rector is particularly concerned about the promotion of student mobility issues, which is more realistic to implement within the framework of the educated consortium. The project coordinator, Professor Martin Dieterich, supported the colleague on this matter and in the end of the conversation thanked the management of SSAU for the opportunity to visit the university and see a lot.
"I am in Stavropol for the second time, I was here about 10 years ago," says the professor of the oldest university in Germany, impressed with the changes in the city and the agricultural university, and then explains: “I am especially empressed by greening support, and the way the youth is integrated into the university's policy. This, perhaps, is a recipe for education”.
Martin Dieterich also noticed the real similarity of interests of all participants of the project, which, in his opinion, reached its main goal. The new master's program is open in three universities in Kazakhstan and in four agrarian universities in Russia. Its main difference and peculiarity is the interdisciplinary approach: during the implementation different faculties cooperate with each other, and the theory is connected with practice.
Now it is important that the cooperation remains active after the end of the project, and the quality aspect should be characterized by open master's programs: how many students are enrolled in them, how many graduates found the job, etc. The universities of Europe and the near abroad are ready to draw unique experience from the Stavropol SAU - three times the holder of the RF Government Quality Prize, three times the winner of the prestigious European EFQM Prize. The future sustainability of the SARUD project is also of interest to all members of the consortium.
