Practicing veterinarian from Germany Gerhard Thiele gave lectures for current and future specialists

More than 60 veterinarians and 30 of the leading livestock livestock owners of the Stavropol Territory, as well as students and faculty of the Agrarian University took part in the scientific seminar, which was held on the basis of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Technology SSAU management. The main theme was the reproduction and prevention of cattle head disease.

Doctor of veterinary medicine who arrived in Stavropol Gerhard Thiele knows our region firsthand. During his studies at the Moscow Veterinary Academy named after KI Skryabin, he graduated in 1980, the future luminary of veterinary medicine was practiced in the farms of the Stavropol Territory. Now H. Thiele came from Germany in a new capacity - to conduct a scientific and practical seminar for veterinary specialists and livestock specialists of the Stavropol Territory.

Over the years Gerhard Thiele, now leading veterinarian of the city of Berlin, acquired both extensive knowledge and colossal experience. In 1988, he passed the specialization in cattle (specializing in "Dairy Cattle") at the University of Berlin Humboldt. And since 1990 he has been conducting his own veterinary practice, dealing with the health of animals on dairy farms located 50 km south of Berlin. In the professional community of Germany Gerhard Thiele person known: is a member of the Veterinary Medicine Chamber of the Federal State of Brandenburg; is a member of the Presidium of the Commission for the Professional Development of Veterinary Specialists, being Vice-Chairman; works in the Federal Commission on the relationship between the owners of veterinary clinics and assistants.

The theme of reproduction and preventive maintenance of diseases of a livestock became the main thing in conversation with participants of the seminar which has taken place on March, 21st on the basis of Stavropol SAU, after all these factors influence profitability of dairy cattle breeding. The range of topics discussed concerned urgent issues of contagious and non-contagious pathology in dairy and beef cattle; diagnostics, prophylaxis and treatment methods for cows when the abomasum is displaced, with mastitis of cows; problems of reproduction in dairy and beef cattle; feeding and keeping in conditions of modern technologies in dairy cattle breeding.

During an open lecture Gerhard Thiele demonstrated methods of prophylaxis and detection of early cow pregnancy and the technique of mastitis treatment at different stages of pathogen etic manifestation. The specialist also explained the technique of surgical correction of the left-sided displacement of the abomasum and told about the vaccination program for the prevention of infectious and invasive diseases.

In general, the program of the workshop for practicing veterinarians and livestock specialists of the Stavropol Territory was aimed at obtaining new knowledge and competencies within the framework of improving the skills of specialists in the livestock sector of agriculture . The lecturer also answered numerous questions from students, teachers, veterinarians and livestock keepers of the region.

So, the students of the faculty of veterinary medicine were interested in what skills in veterinary medicine a graduate should have for a successful professional start. In the program of the visit to the Stavropol State Agrarian University Gerhard Thiele the acquaintance with the directions of activity and equipment of the Scientific Diagnostic and Treatment and Veterinary Center, as well as the visiting of one of the leading farms of the region - OOO Kolkhoz- Plemzavod Chapaevskoye, which is a strategic partner of the university. On a trip he was accompanied by the dean of faculties of veterinary medicine and technological management of the State Agrarian University Skripkin V.S. , Professor of the Department of Feeding and General Biology Zlidnev N.Z. and professor of the department of private zootechny, breeding and breeding of animals Oleinik S.A.

During the visit to the farm Gerhard Thiele familiarized himself with the technologies of feeding, keeping and milking cows, automated recording of milk productivity, methods of breeding and breeding work used at dairy farms of an agricultural enterprise. He met with the teams of three dairy farms, during which the German veterinarian gave exhaustive answers to all questions of veterinary specialists, breeders, technicians, inseminators and milkmaids.

As a result of the visit Gerhard Thiele expressed his words of great gratitude to the rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor V.I.Trukhachev for perfectly organized meetings with students, teachers, representatives of production. Wherein H. Thiele noted that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Stavropol State University has created one of the best in Europe material and technical bases for training highly qualified specialists.
