Another stunning page entered the history of the achievements of the Stavropol State Agrarian University. The university was in the lead in the open public All-Russian competition of professional and educational organizations of higher education for the best organization of physical culture and sports work among students in the 2016/2017 academic year.
This competition is annually held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia with the participation of the Ministry of Sport of Russia and the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Student Sports Union". Its main goal is the development of physical culture and sports work among students, the dissemination of best practices, the popularization and implementation of the All-Russia Physical Culture and Sports Complex "Ready for Labor and Defense".
The contest was held in two stages. Preliminary Stavropol SAU won in the regional stage, which allowed to participate in the contest at the all-Russian level. The competitive commission estimated: the organization of educational process on physical training in higher institution; the presence of physical culture and sports facilities, the organization of physical culture and sports.
As a result of the All-Russian Review Contest, the Stavropol State Agrarian University won in nomination of "Best Accredited Educational Organization of Higher Education in the Organization of Physical Culture and Sports Work among Students for the 2016/2017 academic year with a contingent of full-time education - from 5001 to 10,000 students."

The sports complex of the Agrarian University has a powerful material and technical base with a total area of 4000 square meters. In 2017, another universal platform with an area of 496 square meters was put into operation for playing mini-football, volleyball, and basketball. The gaming hall was modernized in the sports and recreational complex of SSAU, including the reconstruction of the floor non-traumatic cover, modern sport equipment was purchased.
2652 students are involved in 26 sports and recreation sections; 264 athletes are included in the team of the university, 32 have the title of candidates for the master of sports, 17 - masters of sports. Among them are world champions, Europe, the Russian Federation and Stavropol Territory champions. More than 284 sports and mass events of various levels are held annually at the university.
