Aerospace monitoring in the service of grazing livestock

Employees of the University are Professor of the Department of Private Zootechnics, Breeding and Animal Breeding, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Sergei Oleinik and Head of the Department of R&D and Technology Transfer, Associate Professor of the Department of Parasitology and Veterinary Expertise, Anatomy and Pathanatomy, Professor S.N. Nikolsky, Candidate of Veterinary Sciences Sergey Sklyarov took part in the work of the scientific and business forum "Formation of sustainable growth of competitiveness of agricultural producers based on information systems of production management".

The participation of our scientists in the forum took place remotely in the format of videoconferencing within the framework of the implementation of the federal target program "Research and Development in Priority Areas for the Development of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014-2020" on the theme: "Development and implementation of an innovative methodology for aerospace digital applications technologies for the accelerated development of pasture cattle breeding in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union ".

The event was organized by the Federal Research Center for Agrarian Economics and Social Development of Rural Territories - All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (Moscow).

In his report, Professor Sergei Oleinik gave a description of the main areas of research and also introduced the executors of the project: industrial partner – LLC “STiKS”, St. Petersburg, foreign partner - Branch of Research Institute of Sheep Breeding “Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Feed Production” (the Republic of Kazakhstan). In Stavropol Territory, the leading farms in breeding sheep also participate in the work - "Plemzavod Second Five-Year Plan" of Ipatovsky District and "Manych" collective farm-breeding farm in Apanasenkovsky District with a total head count of about 20,000 sheep.

In modern conditions, the task is to intensify grazing livestock in order to provide at least 70% of the annual requirement of animals in nutrients due to pasture feeds, including consumption of digestible protein. In connection with the unstable dynamics of climatic conditions in recent years, the methods of distance assessment of pasture fertility, based on the use of aerospace monitoring, are of particular importance, which will allow increasing the efficiency of pasture land use in the region and increasing the economic attractiveness of the industry.
