From May 18 to May 20, 2018, Stavropol State Agrarian University hosted the international tournament "Open Asian Championships in Powerlifting” which was attended by more than two hundred athletes from Israel, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Germany, Hannah and 16 Russian regions.
It was the third in order of importance power lifting tournament in the history of the university. In 1992, the Russian Championship in this kind of sport was held at the university, which gave the start to its development not only in the university, but throughout the Stavropol Territory.
Annually, twice a year, regional and territory tournaments are held at the University, and in 2014 we met the Universiade of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
In the current Championship team of our university won a team victory, and in individual competitions the winners were: Ksenia Chernova - 3rd-year student of the Economics Faculty, Svetlana Leonidova, who represented the first course of the Accounting and Financial Faculty, Artyom Taranov – a sophomore of the electric power faculty and Kolesnichenko George - 2nd year student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources. The fourth year student of the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization Vyacheslav Skrynnikov became the bronze medalist in the absolute championship. Zatonskaya Liana, a graduate of the Electric Power Faculty and Nikolay Korshunov, a master student at the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, collected the sum of the points, which, as a result, helped them to meet the standards of the international master of sport.
