From 7 to 12 June 2018, the European Powerlifting Championships Olimpia-5 took place in Sochi, in the Akvaloo sports complex, 23 teams and 367 athletes from Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. In the national team of the Russian Federation athletes of the Stavropol State Agrarian University successfully performed.
The tournament was attended by eminent athletes from Europe and Russia, among them - the champion of Europe and the World of Bodybuilding Mikhail Sidorychev. He won and gave a free seminar on the method of training in powerlifting, touching on the anti-doping theme.
Powerlifters of SSAU adequately defended the honor of the national team! In the junior category, the winners were: Svetlana Leonidova, a student of the 1st year of the Accounting and Finance Department and Artem Taranov, a student at the 2nd year of the Electric Power Department. Under the open category "Masters of Sports of Russia", the winners were master's students Liana Zatonskaya (EEF) and Nikolai Korshunov (ABiZR), as well as the trainer-teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Master of Sports of the International Class, Elite of Russia Nina Mukhortova, who became the absolute champion of Europe.
The organizers of the tournament provided athletes with a free restorative massage and an Excursion for Olympic facilities.
