October 12, 2018 in the educational and experimental farm of Stavropol State Agrarian University, a site for testing varieties of winter wheat was organized.
The leading agronomist of Stavropol variety testing station Kofanov I.I., the chief agronomist of the educational economy Matveyev A.G., employees of the department of general agriculture, plant growing and breeding named after F.I. Bobryshev: associate professors Donets .I.A, Golub A.S., as well as bachelor and master degree students of the faculty of agrobiology and land resources took part in the preparation of the plot and sowing.
For the first time in the zone of moderate moisture, 30 new winter wheat varieties of the leading breeding centers of Russia will be tested. All new varieties will receive a comprehensive assessment of the complex economic and biological characteristics: yield, product quality, resistance to diseases and pests, suitability for mechanized harvesting.
The test results will allow to select the most fruitful and valuable in quality and other characteristics of the variety for their zoning and implementation in production.
Next spring, it is planned to continue the variety testing of various crops, which will make it possible to create a sufficiently large varietal fund of source material to speed up the selection process.
