Stavropol State Agrarian University celebrated the centenary of Komsomol

 Stavropol State Agrarian University hosted a regional meeting of the Russian Union of Youth, Russian student teams and the Russian schoolchildren movement, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League.

In addition to activists of the youth, student and school movements, the event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Alexei Lavrinenko, deputy of the Stavropol Territory Lozovoi Viktor Ivanovich and other guests of honor.

Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, in his welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting, noted that “The Russian Union of Youth” took upon itself the baton of glorious deeds in the care and support of the young generation.

“Time requires targeted actions to help young people, their formation and self-realization, their participation in the tremendous nationwide work to ensure the economic power of the country, protect its interests, solve the most urgent tasks and search for answers to the complex challenges of our time. We, the bearers of the glorious history of the Komsomol, should in every way contribute to the education of the youth, the transfer of our experience to it, the realization of the inseparable connection of generations, the preservation of historical memory! - Vladimir Ivanovich emphasized.

Then a solemn meeting was held in Stavropol Palace of Culture and Sports. Among its participants were Komsomol activists of Stavropol of different generations, veterans of the movement and members of modern youth organizations.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Vladimirov, Governor of the Stavropol Territory, congratulated his fellow countrymen on the anniversary date uniting millions of people.

“First think about the Motherland, then about yourself,” this motto of the Komsomol members helped to overcome the hardships of the harsh years of the Great Patriotic War, and in the post-war time to restore and develop our country. Young people built factories and power stations, raised virgin lands. At the initiative of the Komsomol members, student production brigades and posts number 1 were created in the Stavropol region, the head of the region noted.

The participants of the holiday recalled the main milestones in the development of the Komsomol organization of Stavropol. The contribution to the victory over fascism was made by young patriots during the Great Patriotic War. From the ranks of the Komsomol thousands of volunteers went to the front. Their peers in the rear raised funds for the construction of the armored train "Komsomolets Stavropol" and avia-link "Pioneers of Stavropol". Forever in the history of the region remained the feat of Komsomol members of the underground in the village Velichaevskoye of the Levokumsky district during the occupation of the region.

In peacetime, Komsomol members of the region participated in the development of virgin soil and in the largest construction sites. The Komsomol brigades built the Grand Stavropol Canal and the Stavropol State District Power Station, the Budennovsky Plastics Plant and the Nevinnomyssky Azot, and other industrial enterprises of Stavropol.

Creative groups of Stavropol State Agrarian University performed in the festive concert.

For their contribution to the socio-economic development of the Stavropol region, activists of the Komsomol movement of different decades were given letters of thanks and commemorative awards. Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who once made a significant contribution to the development of the regional Komsomol movement, being an instructor in the department of Komsomol organizations of the Stavropol Territorial Committee of the Komsomol and the First Secretary of the Grachevsky Regional Committee of the Stavropol Region.
