65 years of Chair of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology of Stavropol State Agrarian University

2018 was the anniversary of the Chair of Agricultural Chemistry and Plant Physiology of our university. 65 years ago, the Chair’s staff became a separate structural unit, and such a date requires respect for it and it should be noted without fail.

On October 4, 2018, Stavropol State Agrarian University opened the doors for participants and guests of the international scientific-practical conference "Theoretical and technological bases of biogeochemical flows of substances in agronomic landscapes." The conference is dedicated to the glorious anniversary of the Chair of Agricultural Chemistry and Plant Physiology.

The conference was held for the first time, but it aroused interest among scientists from 6 countries (Russia, Poland, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan) and from 23 regions of our Motherland from Yalta to Irkutsk.

The Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev opened the conference. He welcomed the guests of the conference, especially noting scientists and practitioners who personally came to the conference to present the results of their research and congratulate the hero of the day.

The scientific community of 62 organizations, including 12 foreign, as well as 32 Russian educational institutions, 16 research institutes and research centers, 5 centers of the agrochemical service, representatives of research centers and agricultural enterprises showed active interest. In total, 434 participants took part in the conference, including 4 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 24 doctors of science, professors, 217 candidates of science, associate professors. The conference participants were provided with scientific material, which became a collection of 167 articles. In addition, the issue of the journal Agrochemical Bulletin was published, dedicated to the anniversary of the Chair of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, where the results of research of our scientists are presented in 14 articles.

Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev in his welcoming speech noted that such interest in the conference was caused by the authority of the staff of the Chair of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, which turned 65 years old. Over the years, the Chair has passed a long, difficult and worthy way. In the education and upbringing of the younger generation of agrochemists, the teachers of the Chair generously share their accumulated experience and knowledge. The high level of qualifications of the staff of the Chair of Agricultural Chemistry and Plant Physiology allowed it to become a center for training highly qualified specialists, and the scientists of the Chair promote the introduction of effective innovations in the field of agriculture.

According to the results of the ranking of university staff in terms of achievements, the Chair occupies a leading position, and in 2017 the Chair of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology deservedly took the first place.

Then, Andrey Yuryevich Oleinikov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory, made a welcoming speech, noting the contribution of the department staff to the preservation and enhancement of scientific traditions in the field of plant nutrition and increasing crop yields.

Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, Professor of the Chair of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexandr Nikolaevich Esaulko made a presentation “65 years of the Chair of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology of Stavropol State Agrarian University. “From education to the present day”, in which he outlined the main stages of the development of the Chair and presented some of the results of the staff’s activities.

The guests were also greeted by the head of the Department of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Sigida Maxim Sergeevich. He said that he was sincerely touched by such attention from the guests. The staff of the Department now is a young energetic union of like-minded people who have serious and ambitious plans ahead. And, thanks to the collaboration with friends such as today's guests, everything in our life will come true.

Head of the Department of Soil Science of the Belarusian Agricultural Academy, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Persikova Tamara Filippovna welcomed the guests and made a presentation where she presented the results of research on the assessment of the impact of biological fertilizers on fertility of sod-podzolic soil, yield and quality of spring rapeseed.

Romanenkov Vladimir Arkadyevich, Head of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov spoke about his close, long-term cooperation with our university in his greeting, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He made a presentation on the “Geographical network of long field experiments with fertilizers in agrochemical and agronomic landscape research».

After the plenary session, the guests took part in an excursion, during which they met with our university.

The conference continued with the consideration of general issues of Agrochemistry, problems of optimizing plant nutrition; land monitoring and improvement of technology to improve soil fertility; the effectiveness of the use of agrochemicals and plant protection products; improvement of crop cultivation technology; organic farming issues; modern problems of environmental protection and environmental management.

At the end of the conference, a resolution was adopted, which decided to make the conference regular and hold meetings of scientists systematically.
