Students of Stavropol State Agrarian University took part in the search expeditions "Paths of the Great Patriotic War of Stavropol"

The search and reconnaissance detachment "Stavr" consists mainly of the Cossacks of the Stavropol Cossack Society of the Terek Cossack Army, but it also includes students, masters and graduate students of Stavropol State Agrarian University.

On November 1, 2018, on the basis of the faculties of veterinary medicine and technological management in audience No. 1 of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, the participants of the search group “Stavr” told about the two search and reconnaissance expeditions conducted by them “The paths of the Great Patriotic War of Stavropol” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Northern Caucasus from the Nazi invaders.

During the conference, the following persons spoke to the audience: Nikolay Nazarenko, the project manager, spoke about the project as a whole; Dubrovin Andrei - Master of Electric Power Engineering, reported on the Battle for the Caucasus during the Great Patriotic War; Fursov Dmitriy - a student at the Faculty of Power Engineering, reported on the results of the first visit to the village of Praskoveya; Kirill Boglaev, a graduate student in the department of agricultural mechanization, spoke about the results of a trip to the village of Achikulak. In addition, the conference was attended by: a regular photographer of the detachment, a graduate student of the faculty of veterinary medicine - Dmitry Chervyakov, members of the Stavr detachment, Cossacks, students, graduate students and teachers of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, as well as students of the Stavropol State Pedagogical University.

The project participants set the following objectives: to restore the exact chronology of the events of the hostilities in the Stavropol region, to popularize and preserve the historical memory of the battles against the German fascist invaders in the Stavropol Territory.

The first searches took place in the village of Praskoveya (Budyonnovsky District). Here, on the territory of the Praskoveisky Agro-technological Training School from June 1941 to August 1942 a military hospital was located. Students from Stavropol State Agrarian University and Stavropol Pedagogical Institute helped the Cossacks in their search. In the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, search engines have established lists of deceased soldiers in the hospital. As a result of a reconnaissance trip, the search engines clarified the gravesites of the defenders of the Fatherland.

The second was held in the village of Achikulak (Neftekumsky District). The purpose of this expedition was to discover new data about the heroic battles of the 4th Guards Kuban Cavalry Cossack Regiment during the battle for the Caucasus.

Unfortunately, as the members of the detachment noted, the archived data on specific battle sites in our territory are vague: the Soviet army at the time began its advance to the west and moved to Stalingrad. In a hurry, often the position was not marked on the cards, there was no mention of the graves of fallen fighters. There are practically no living witnesses of those events left, or their stories are contradictory. Nevertheless, the expedition participants gained tremendous experience in conducting search operations, acquired new knowledge and skills. Search expeditions also helped to ensure that this work is very important, because in the steppes of the Stavropol Territory there are countless graves of Soviet soldiers, and many of them are nameless until now.
