Associate Professor of the Department of Soil Science named after Professor V.I. Tulipov of Stavropol State Agrarian University Dmitry Vasilyevich Kalugin took part in the competition “URALCHEM - Element of Growth”, which was held in Moscow. He presented a project on the topic: "Improving soil fertility by rocks of different genesis."
From October 29 to November 1, 2018 in Moscow, within the framework of the international exhibition "CHEMISTRY-2018", which was held in the central exhibition complex "Expocentre" on Krasnaya Presnya, an accelerator competition "URALCHEM - Element of Growth" was held, where the contestants performed with presentations of their projects at the joint stand of URALCHEM - Uralkali.
The innovative solutions competition “URALCHEM - The Element of Growth” is the first corporate competition of start-ups in the field of agrochemistry and agriculture. The main goal is the selection, support and promotion of the best scientific and entrepreneurial breakthrough solutions and projects in the industry.
Within the framework of the exhibition, the projects of contestants from Moscow, Kazan, and Stavropol were presented. Participants presented such developments as biological preparations for crop production, an unmanned gyroplane with the possibility of introducing agrochemistry into the soil, unique methods for improving soil fertility, etc.
A total of eight nominations are foreseen, including: “integrated digital solutions”, “nutrition and plant protection”, “fertilizers of the future”, “soil protection”, and so on.
The finalists will be assessed and selected by an expert council consisting of experts from Joint Stock Company URALCHEM, as well as a number of experts from the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, the Russian Union of Chemists and others.
The finalists will have the opportunity to enlist the professional support of the largest producer of mineral fertilizers in the post-Soviet space during the project and its promotion in the international market.

In his report on the topic: "Improving soil fertility by rocks of different genesis" describes a method of increasing soil fertility by adding silty material rich in chemical composition of rocks. Particular importance was paid to the introduction of phosphorus gypsum, as the company organizing the competition is most interested in finding ways to use this waste in the production of phosphate fertilizers.
