Autumn Marathon of Management Accounting

The Autumn Marathon of Management Accounting, consisting of professional, intellectual and creative tests for students, started at the Accounting and Finance Faculty of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

The marathon began with a meeting of the Club of Accounting Management Connoisseurs, which took place in several stages. At the first stage, 4th year students of the “Accounting, Analysis and Audit” profile told about the nature, advantages and disadvantages, the scope of application of advanced calculation management accounting systems. At the second stage, the teams had to answer a number of managerial accounting questions, having studied the business practice of applying the Lean Production system at leading Russian enterprises.

The masters of the club, who were teachers of the departments “Accounting Management Accounting” and “Accounting Financial Accounting”, evaluated the work of the teams. According to the results of the meeting, the winners:

- in the nomination “For a deep scientific approach” became the team “Target-costing” (Alefirenko Alena, Babkina Daria, Gagyan Marina);

- in the nomination "The most relevant research" was the team "Lean Production" (Yana Lysova, Elizaveta Zhavoronkova);

- in the nomination "The best practical research" became the team "ABC-costing" (Kuprikova Julia, Serebryanskikh Tatiana, Reznikova Alina);

- in the nomination “The best presentation of the project” became the team “Just in time” (Rozhnova Valeria, Folomeeva Victoria, Shvagerus Sergey);

- in the nomination "For the methodological approach to the study" was the team "Kaizen-costing" (Voronina Anastasia, Kirpichenko Tatiana, Drog Maria).

The dean of the Accounting and Finance faculty, doctor of economics, professor Kostyukova Elena Ivanovna presented the special prize of the club of accounting management experts to 4th year student of the group Drog Maria. The winner of the "Crystal Owl" prize in 2018 of the Club of Connoisseurs of Accounting Management Accounting became a 4th year student of the 1st group of the Serebryanskikh Tatiana.

Then the creative part of the Autumn Marathon took place, where teams had to fight in four competitions: “Greeting”, “Management survey quiz”, “Understand me”, “Homework”. The intellectual competition “The blitz survey on management accounting checked the participants' knowledge about the basic concepts and tools of management accounting. In the “Understand me” competition, the captain had to explain the term of management accounting to the rest of the team with the help of synonyms and other words. In the “Homework” competition, the Direct-Costing team showed the history of the system of the same name, and the “Lady-Udaryni Accounting” team prepared a presentation on the use of the sequential method in the educational process.

The talent, skill and professionalism of the applicants were assessed by the jury: the head of the department of production and processing of food products from vegetable raw materials, Ph.D. Chief Specialist of the Corporate Business Department of Promsvyazbank PJSC, a graduate of the master's program “Management Accounting and Controlling” Soldatov Ilya, Candidate of Economics Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of "Economic analysis and audit" Neschadimova Tatiana, PhD, associate professor of "Management accounting" Tatarinova Maria. The jury in its assessment of the teams was unanimous, all participants showed not only a high level of theoretical training, but also creatively approached the presentation of teams and homework.

According to the results of the competition, the places were distributed as follows:

The 1st place was taken by the team "Direct-costing" (students of the 4th course of the 2nd group).

The 2nd place went to the team "Lady-Udalene Accounting" (4th year students of group 1).

All participants were awarded with diplomas and tasty prizes.

The Autumn Marathon will end with a contest of coursework in accounting management.
