In Krasnodar, on the basis of Kuban State Agrarian University, on November 23, 2018, a meeting was held on the development of agricultural education in Russia with the rectors of the leading specialized universities of the country, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Nikolayevich Patrushev. A report on the topic “How to return big science to agricultural universities” was presented by the Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Chairman of the Association of Agrarian Universities of Russia “Agricultural Education”, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev.
Kuban State Agrarian University warmly welcomed the guests. On the square in front of the main building of the university there were placed the hospitable Cossack kurens of the Slavyansky, Seversky and Korenovsky districts of Krasnodar Territory.
The seminar of the Association “Agro-education” chaired by Academician RAS, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev was held in the meeting room of the academic council of the university. Rectors-agrarians discussed trends in the development of the agro-industrial sector, methods of automating the educational process, as well as improving the quality of scientific work, eliminating the practice of borrowing copyright materials.
The main event was the meeting on the development of agrarian education in Russia, which was headed by the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Nikolayevich Patrushev.
At present, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia coordinates the activities of 54 universities, in which more than 300 thousand students study together.
- Modern agriculture is the largest consumer of innovations in the world economy. Global digital networks and smart farms, the latest achievements of genetics and breeding, molecular biology and biotechnology - all this comes to the agricultural industry in large quantities, becoming the technological base of agricultural production. It is obvious that specialists of a fundamentally different level and quality should work in these conditions. Therefore, today we give priority to state support of agricultural science and education, - the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation began the discussion.
During the meeting, he recalled that the domestic agrarian and industrial complex had a global strategic task - to create an export-oriented sector based on high technologies, provided with highly qualified personnel.
Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, as Chairman of the Association of Agrarian Universities of Russia “Agro-education”, reported at the meeting on the current state of the higher school in the agricultural sphere, on existing problems and possible development prospects.
- Agrarian universities have been actively involved in the implementation of the May Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, - said Vladimir Ivanovich. - Specifically, in the implementation of the creation in the agro-industrial complex of high-performance export-oriented sector, developing on the basis of modern technologies and provided with highly qualified personnel. We implement this task in a comprehensive manner, based on close integration with the research institutes of the agrarian profile.
At the end of the report, the rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University made a number of proposals to improve agricultural science and education, such as: to hold a competition of scientific programs among agricultural universities of Russia in the priority areas of the FSTP, to make changes to the regulatory documents of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, which will enable leading agricultural universities to form a basis for R & D, to provide agrarian universities with closer integration with academic research institutes, to open the doors for agricultural universities to scientific centers of leading agro-industrial corporations of Russia, etc.
