17.12.2018

Professor of the Department of Ecology and Landscape Construction Mandra Yulia Alexandrovna took part in the meeting of the round table "Improving environmental safety and preservation of natural systems in the territory of the Caucasian Mineral Waters", organized by the Committee on Agrarian and Land Issues, Environmental Management and Ecology of the Stavropol Territory Duma. The event took place in the resort town Pyatigorsk at the site of Pyatigorsk State University. During the meeting, the topics of the state of atmospheric air in the region, the quality of drinking water and the water purification system in the cities of the CMW and the potential of hydro-mineral resources were discussed. Special attention was paid to legislative initiatives for the regulation of environmental protection and rational use of the natural resources of the CMW resort region. The presentations were made by the heads and representatives of ministries and departments of the federal and regional level, as well as representatives of public organizations and the scientific community. In the course of a lively discussion, the roundtable participants determined that the development of CMW resorts should take into account their natural potential and the ever-increasing anthropogenic load. A number of participants noted that the drafts of federal regulations do not always meet these requirements, and therefore they need to be seriously refined. In particular, it is necessary to return the institute of “state ecological expertise” for therapeutic and recreational areas and the resort. In the proposals with a resolution of the round table, the representative of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, Yu.A. Mandra noted the need to implement on the territory of CMW a single updated database on the state of not only the territorial arrangement of resort cities, but also the state of the region’s main wealth - the natural resource potential. In addition, she noted that it is necessary to develop and support the scientific research of regional scientists in this field through the prism of interaction and the development of integrated science-based measures to preserve the natural systems of Caucasian Mineral Waters. At the end of the round table, it was noted that only an integrated approach to solving the problems of CMW would contribute to the preservation and restoration of the ecological system of a unique region. For this, it is necessary not only to improve legislation at all levels, but also to unite the efforts of the authorities, business and society. The deputies stressed that the final recommendations of the event will necessarily reflect all the expressed constructive proposals of its participants.
