24.12.2018

At the accounting and finance faculty of Stavropol State Agrarian University, a lecture-discussion was held on the topic: “Monetary policy in the system of economic security of the state” for 3-year students of the specialty “Economic security”. The event was organized by the Department of Finance, Credit and Insurance, together with the Stavropol Territory Department of the Southern Central Administration of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation represented by the head of the department of financial monitoring and currency control Galina Vladimirovna Mushailova.

As you know, a strong state currency is the basis for the development of any economy, since it stimulates production, develops the domestic market, cheapens the import of new technologies, holds back prices and ensures a high standard of living of the population.

Therefore, the growth rate of the national currency relative to other world currencies has a positive effect on the development of the economy, and the depreciation of the currency, the so-called devaluation, has a negative impact on the economy. The results of devaluation are always stagnation, the destruction of the internal market, rising prices and poverty of the population.

In her lecture, Galina Vladimirovna raised questions: What is the ruble rate, and what factors determine its dynamics? What are the legal foundations of the exchange rate policy of the Bank of Russia? What are the goals, objectives and mechanism of the exchange rate policy of the Bank of Russia? Why did the Bank of Russia switch to floating ruble exchange rate? Is the Bank of Russia going to strengthen / weaken the ruble? Why does not the Bank of Russia carry out operations on the sale of foreign currency in the amounts necessary to strengthen the ruble? Why can the ruble weaken even with stable or rising oil and gas prices? How does the change in the exchange rate affect the economy?

The lecturer spoke about the state of the problem of regulating the exchange rate; minimizing the risks associated with conducting foreign exchange transactions; characterized the types of currency regimes allocated by the economy. The lecture was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere. At the end of the speech, those present had the opportunity to get answers to their questions, to debate and discuss complex mechanisms of currency relations. We would like to note the high professionalism, experience and erudition of Galina Vladimirovna Mushailova both in scientific and practical terms.
