Students of Stavropol State Agrarian University honored the memory of the first ataman of the Terek Cossack army

On December 26, on the birthday of the First Nakazny Ataman of the Terek Cossack Army, Lieutenant General Khristophor Popandopulo, a memorial service was held at the Uspensky cemetery. The event was attended by a group of students of Stavropol State Agrarian University under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy and History Evgeny Vasilyevich Tufanov.

Participants of the requiem recalled the facts of the life of the legendary chieftain. Once he commanded an army of nearly 80 thousand sabers. Since the 19th century, the Terek Cossacks were the shock force of the Russian army. After numerous campaigns and victories, a prominent commander of the times of the Caucasian War, military historian Khristophor Yegorovich Popandopulo accepted his resignation and settled in his estate in Stavropol, where he lived for almost 30 years.

The Cossacks of the Cossack village of Suvorov, Mikhailovsk, Stavropol and other settlements of Stavropol, students of the cadet school, representatives of the Greek community of the region, students came to honor his memory.

One of the main organizers of the commemorative event was one of the leaders of the regional Greek community, Kaishev Vladimir Grigorievich, Ph.D. in Economics, Honored Worker of the Food Industry of the Russian Federation.
