The courses were organized within the framework of the priority national project “Modern Digital Educational Environment in the Russian Federation” according to the state program “Development of Education” for 2013–2020. According to domestic analysts, the capacity of the Russian online market for higher and vocational education in 2018 exceeded 18 billion rubles.
It should be noted that modern students of higher and secondary educational organizations, university lecturers have a positive attitude to the introduction of elements of online learning in the educational process. "Our task, first of all, is to preserve the knowledge that is the basis of Russian education that is fundamental. But today applied knowledge, which is in demand in a particular industry or business, is also in great demand. Of course, we must respond to the request that has developed in the society, with the help of a systematic improvement in the quality of online learning, ” - underlines the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Marina Borovskaya.
The main purpose of training lecturers of the Stavropol State Agrarian University was the comprehensive transformation of the lecturer’s professional activities based on the capabilities of modern digital tools and the digital environment, familiarizing students with successful global and Russian projects for creating mass open online courses.
Among the objectives of the course:
- To help lecturers find effective and flexible ways to integrate digital technologies into their educational environments and to use the opportunities of digitalization in the educational space.
- To eliminate the main gaps between the desired and the actual level of proficiency of university lecturers in digital competences and their level of digital literacy.
- To motivate program participants to introduce changes in educational activities, taking into account the studied technologies and tools.
Speakers of advanced training programs are a team of Tomsk State University, authors of massive open online courses, coordinators of film and educational processes. Lectures were given by: Galina Vasilievna Mozhaeva, director of the Institute of Distance Education at the TSU, Svetlana B. Velendinskaya, Director of the Center for Advanced Studies and Retraining at the TSU, and Daria Alexandrovna Maslova, specialist at the Institute of Distance Education at the TSU.
After training, university lecturers learned:
- how to develop your online course.
- how to create content that will be really interesting and useful to listeners.
- how long it takes to create an online course.
- who owns the copyright when creating the MOOC (Mass open online courses).
- which specialists are needed to create an open online course and where to find them.
- how can MOOC be used at a university
Four days passed unnoticed and very intense for all students of both programs. In total, 50 lecturers, staff, heads of various departments and faculties of our university passed the courses.
The final practical classes became especially vivid and memorable. During them the participants of the program “Online course: from design to access to the platform” tried themselves in the role of scriptwriters, presenters, and active participants in the filming process of the online course.
The participants of the Digital Transformation of Modern Teacher course vividly and enthusiastically discussed the difficulties and possibilities of introducing digital technologies into the educational process, the prospects and effectiveness of educational trajectories with the inclusion of digital technologies in the educational process for both lecturers and students.
Full-time study is completed, the training will continue to take place online until April. The final work of each of the participants will be scenarios of an online course on the taught discipline, as well as the development of a project to create mass online educational courses at our university.
