Making of strawberry arboretum on the territory of the experimental station of Stavropol State Agrarian University

Within the framework of the Transformation Project connected with the FoodNet market, the Center for Innovative Technologies in Fruit and Vegetable Production and Viticulture has been established on the territory of the experimental station of Stavropol State Agrarian University.

To increase the efficiency of the Center for Innovative Technologies in Fruit and Vegetable Production and Viticulture, created at the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, a strawberry arboretum, grown by modern intensive technologies, was laid on an area of 0.14 ha, on the territory of the experimental station of Stavropol State Agrarian University.

The project was implemented with the support of the Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev.

In the arboretum, five modern, most sought-after varieties will be studied: Malvina, Primi, Korona, Kleri, Syria. Planting of strawberry seedlings was carried out under the direction of the dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, and the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Prof. of the RAS - Esaulko A.N., director of the experimental station Voskoboinikov A.V. and associate professor of the Department of Production and Processing of Food from Plant Materials Aisanov T.S.

As part of the practice-oriented lesson plan, students of the Department of Agrobiology and Land Resources and Department of Ecology and Landscape Architecture in the amount of more than 30 people were involved in the work.

Before landing, the beds were made, which were then covered with a special opaque film. On the plantings drip irrigation is provided, the use of which will help to improve the water-physical properties of the soil and increase the yield of plants.

The making of a strawberry arboretum is a continuation of a long-term plan for expanding the area of fruit and berry plantations at the educational and experimental farm of Stavropol State Agrarian University. The making of a trellis orchard on drip irrigation and a vineyard has already been completed.

The work of the Center for Innovative Technologies in Fruit and Vegetables Production and Viticulture will be focused on the practice-oriented training of students in the “Agronomy” area, the improvement of their skills, as well as the study of technology elements, doses of mineral fertilizers, the use of means of protecting fruit and berry crops.
