The first scientific methodological seminar "Problems of the theory and practice of the electoral process" was held on the basis of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

Stavropol State Agrarian University, together with the Electoral Commission of the Stavropol Territory, has launched a permanent scientific methodological seminar "Problems of the theory and practice of the electoral process."

Free elections, enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation as a form of the highest direct expression by the people of their power, have become an integral part of Russian political life. The need to implement the electoral rights of citizens in the post-Soviet reality has led to the need for a new electoral law and its analysis within the framework of the sub-sector of the electoral law, which has received a second life as a result of democratic reforms.

First Deputy Chairman of the Stavropol Stadium, Dmitry Nikolaevich Sudovtsov, Ivan Vyacheslavovich Atanov, Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Work of the Stavropol State Agrarian University and Viktor Alekseevich Cherepanov, Doctor of Law, Professor made their presentations to the audience.

The first meeting of the seminar “Universal Suffrage: Pros and Cons” was attended by representatives of the scientific expert community, public authorities, faculty members and students of Stavropol State Agrarian University.

In the course of summarizing the scientific discussion, on the basis of the results obtained, the electoral legislation itself was subject to critical analysis. The fruit of such an analysis are suggestions for its improvement.
