V All-Russian Financial Literacy Week for Children and Youth launched at the Agrarian University

Agrarian University opened its doors for young Stavropol residents - participants of the intellectual and entertaining game “What? Where? When? ”, held as part of the V All-Russian Financial Literacy Week for Children and Youth (April 17-24, 2019).

The week was organized in the Project framework of the Ministry of Finance of Russia «Assistance in raising the level of financial literacy of the population and the development of financial education in the Russian Federation».

The goal of the project is to increase the financial literacy of Russian citizens, to promote the formation of reasonable financial behavior among the population, informed decisions, a responsible attitude to personal finances, and more effective protection of their interests as consumers of financial services.

V All-Russian Financial Literacy Week for Youth covers the whole country and provides more than 30,000 events for girls and boys of different ages and their parents. The week is also part of the Global Money Week international event, which annually brings together more than 7 million people from 137 countries. And the opening ceremony of the Week this year for the first time covers participants from 24 regions of Russia.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Finance of the Stavropol Territory Suslov Yury Ivanovich, Regional Coordinator of the Regional Financial Literacy Program for the Population Gerasimenko Nadezhda Ivanovna, Head of the Economic Section of the Department Stavropol Central Bank of Russia Yurkina Elena Viktorovna, Head of the Strategic Development Department of Voronezh State University Alexey A. Makhotin Assistant Professors of the Department of Economic Analysis and Audit of the Voronezh State University Nadezhda V. Kondrashova and Irina V. Panina, Dean of the Accounting and Finance Faculty of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, Doctor of Economics, Professor Elena Ivanovna Kostyukova, Head of the Department of Financial Management and Banking, Doctor of Economics, Professor Sklyarova Yulia Mikhailovna, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Management and Banking , PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Lapina Elena Nikolaevna.

More than 50 guys from Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk tested their financial knowledge, flashed erudition and showed their leadership skills in three stages of the financial literacy tournament. At the end, students from the university volunteer group «Financier» and experts summed up the game. In anticipation of the results, the guys had time to share the most vivid impressions.

Commenting on the results of the tournament, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Stavropol Territory Yury Ivanovich Suslov noted: «Teenagers and young people are future active consumers of financial services. Already today, we must teach them to treat their personal funds prudently, choose the right banking and insurance products, be able to defend their consumer rights, and understand the importance of creating a financial airbag».

According to the experts of the game, all participants, undoubtedly, showed brilliant results in financial knowledge, for which they were marked by memorable gifts.

At the end of the tournament, Nadezhda Ivanovna Gerasimenko, regional coordinator of the regional financial literacy program, and Yulia Mikhailovna Sklyarova, head of the department of financial management and banking, Ph.D., told about the key events of the Week and invited the children to take part in them.

This year in the framework of the Week are scheduled:

• All-Russian online quest for financial literacy «Financial Detective»;

• Open lessons and lectures for schoolchildren and students in the format «Children teach children»;

• Online lessons;

• Webinars for parents;

• Online financial literacy course for children and young people;

• Internet competition «Financial Literacy Marathon» from partners.

The week of 2019 is devoted to a creative approach to the issues of financial education, as well as new technologies that help develop and maintain financial literacy in the modern rhythm of life.
