The first practical steps to the introduction of modern ICAR methodology in dairy cattle breeding in Russia

As part of the introduction of the dairy herd management methodology developed at Stavropol State Agrarian University under the leadership of the Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, a video conference was held with the participation of the Secretariat of the International Animal Registration Committee (ICAR) and the NPO Association of Cattle Producers of Holstein breed, a member of the European Confederation of Producers Holstein breed (EHRC).

In the video conference took part:

- on the part of the ICAR Secretariat (headquartered in Rome, Italy) - Cesare Mosconi;

- on the part of the NPO Association of Holstein cattle producers - executive director Olesya Smirnova;

- on the part of the Stavropol State Agrarian University - Professor of the Department of Private Animal Science and Animal Breeding, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Oleinik Sergey Alexandrovich and Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Candidate of Philological Sciences Kizilova Natalya Igorevna.

During the discussion, the parties exchanged information on promising areas and priority measures for the development of the dairy herd management system and the implementation of the ICAR methodology at leading dairy cattle breeding and milk production enterprises in Russia.

The introduction of the ICAR methodology in breeding farms for dairy cattle will allow to achieve effective management of the dairy herd and improve the production culture and the quality of raw milk, become a full participant in the international market for genetic resources trade, which will contribute to a significant increase in the economic indicators of the production process in dairy cattle breeding.
