25.05.2019

In the last 10 years, the Russian Federation has been paying increasing attention to the issues of raising the level of financial literacy as the most important factor in the economic development of the country. In modern conditions of expanding the use of financial services, the complication and emergence of new financial instruments and their digitalization, the issues of financial literacy of the population have become extremely relevant.

In order to promote the formation of reasonable financial behavior among the population, responsible attitude to personal finances, increasing the effectiveness of protecting the rights of consumers of financial services in the region, a regional program “Increasing the financial literacy of the population of the Stavropol Territory and the development of financial education in the Stavropol Territory” is being implemented.

As part of solving the problems of the Krai program, the faculty of the Department of Financial Management and Banking has developed a program for conducting training workshops on the use of electronic financial services in personal e-services offices, aimed at citizens of retirement and pre-pension age.

From February to May 2019, classes were held to improve the level of financial literacy of the residents of the “silver age” of Georgievsky, Budennovsky, Grachevsky, Kursky, Turkmen districts and the city of Kislovodsk.

First of all, the training workshops are aimed at the bottom line. Students learn how to use the services provided by state and commercial organizations in the financial sector on the Internet: they learn to create private offices in major banks, pay for housing and utilities services online, and make other payments. The participants of the master classes are also familiar with the possibilities of using personal accounts on the websites of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, the Federal Tax Service, and the portal of public services. In conclusion, each student receives a memo with step-by-step instructions for securing the received information at home.

The training was organized by the staff of the Institute of Additional Professional Education of the University and conducted as part of the contract with the state public institution of additional professional education, Training Center of the Ministry of Finance of the Stavropol Territory.

During 2019, such classes will also be held in other areas of the Stavropol Territory.
